Here we are...winding down the summer vacation. Isn't that a farce? Summer is a vacation? I missed that one...still had cooking, cleaning and moming to do. But, I'm not complaining, I enjoy every moment (almost) of mom! Incredibly thankful I am able to be home to implement boredom busters; Uno, chess, picking up rocks, cleaning out closets. Amazingly, after only a few "mom, I'm bored" being filled with housework and the like, I don't hear that phrase uttered.
We start school next Monday. I'm glad we chose our start date when school dismissed last year or we'd extend summer, I'm sure of it. Maddie begins, 8th grade. Sam, 6th grade and Ben, 5th grade. Jeremiah gets to wait a few more years before formal training begins. Although Good Night Moon is a fabulous reading primer. He likes to eat the books, I like to read them.
Jack stays busy with chickens. And we've raised two summer litters of boxer puppies. We still have yet a few more that are looking for homes. Hopefully come a few months, we'll have German Shepherd pups to cuddle and love. Puppies are a fun way to spend time. Although our house cat, Thurman isn't crazy about them coming in the house and invading HIS space. Thurman still isn't sure about Jeremiah. Who now scoots around on his tummy. He pulls his legs up under him and pushes off with his feet. His arms are used for the sole purpose of trying to get a handful of orange hair off the cat while he tries to race by. I think Thurman will be Jeremiah's motivation to actually become mobile. Gotta catch the cat.
We have teeth. And sleepless nights. Those teeth are hard to push through the gums. Even in the wee hours of the morning, he is a great baby. Just gotta find the binky, stick it in his mouth, push the button for the white noise of gentle rain and crawl back in bed. He generally goes back to sleep easily.
As we enter the "dog days of summer," enjoy the air conditioning and the people around you.
