What a way to wake up.....several inches of white, fluffy snow! The kids begged for a snow day. Duh, school doesn't get cancelled since transportation to the kitchen table isn't a problem. But they did get a "free" morning. Of which only 15 minutes so far has been outside. Just a few days ago, I was roaming the yard and noticing that the rose bushes are starting to bud out with itty bitty leaves. Seems absurd that today, I can't go outside without snow boots and a coat (or two!)
Heard from mom and Jim and THEY FOUND A HOUSE IN MANAGUA! They have signed the rental agreement and are ready for company....almost. In just a few short weeks, they will sign the contract on their home in Missouri and be ready to hit the fast lane to Nicaragua.
Anyone up for a trip?
Yesterday the kids went into church with Jeanna to spend time with 16 international children traveling with a choir to raise money and awareness regarding the poverty of children. I so appreciate the opportunity for our kids to "see" beyond themselves. They made some new friends that they literally won't see again on this earth, but will one day reunite in Heaven since Jesus Christ is proclaimed as Lord for each of the youngsters. The group was at our church Sunday night, and our family was affected by the realization of how much we waste. You can find more at: http://www.worldhelp.net/MusicOutreach.aspx. We have been challenged to sacrifice something as a family to help another family elsewhere.....we're talking about giving up a McDonald's meal (resulting from my laziness to cook or take food with us from home), or even giving up TV (I'm all for that one!). Amazingly, the kids are on board without whining at all. If worldhelp.net isn't for you, there are some amazing people helping others....www.worldvision.org is another great resource to consider helping. And another that comes to mind is: lifetoday.org which helps dig wells providing fresh, clean drinking water in Africa. Granted, we can't throw $30,000 to a worthy cause, but we can do SOMETHING! Alright, I'll step down from my soap box for now.

It's on my "to-do" list ... like everything else - ha! Seriously, I have planned to get this started this weekend. I can't wait. I've been thinking of all the things I could write --- Gunnar was in time out 5 times this morning. Gunnar was in time out 6 times this morning... Gunnar hit his older brother and had to go to timeout today... you getting the idea of what Gunnar is like lately? :)
Stay warm!
